If the Portuguese league is a farmers league. It's absolutely astonishing the amount of times they put our clubs out of Europe . Proper Roy of the rovers stuff . You said his club record was superb. That immediately eliminates all references to the national roles whether with kids or the then grown up kids.

The Wolves squad he inherited - plus the 6+ players he bought in the January window when he arrived - were in a false position pre World Cup. You only have to look at who he had at his disposal.

Sevilla finished 5th, 5th, 7th 4th, 7th and 6th in the six seasons before his arrival. So much for disarray.

So taking a shit wolves side from bottom at Christmas to 13th, taking a Sevilla side in disarray to finish in the top four every season, winning a major European trophy on the way or never losing a game with Spain isn’t superb? Ok. I’m not allowed my opinion but you carry on. Oh what about the 84% win ratio with the Spanish youth or the 68% with Porto?

To give ourselves a frame of reference, I'd probably say the 6 years younger Unai Emery's record at club level, cutting his teeth with 2 promotions with unfancied teams before winning multiple trophies, is superb

Anyway, people are getting carried away (me included).

We most likely have a new manager. I have my doubts about him but, naturally, want him to do well. I hope he rips it up if he gets the job.

If it's Lop, I'll get on board.

Appears he likes defensive solidity, but aims to achieve that through starvation of the ball, and not a low block counter, which will be quite the change.

And his time at Wolves doesn't appear anywhere near as shit as I seem to remember it.

And he also seems to like a pair of rampaging full backs, which is something we havent really had err...ever?

At the end of that sentence, Nagel, is a “qualifier”, which contextualises the words used elsewhere in the sentence.

It explains, clearly, that it was the longest they’d gone without a trophy under that owner. Which is a pretty straightforward and verifiable claim.

So is it meaningfully different to “the longest trophy drought in their history”?

In fairness to Lopetegui, Meerkat, I don’t think Wolves were prepared to free up much money for the manager when they went looking for a left back.

Hence, he looked at Cress (getting on by then) as a cheap option.
